Transparent and solid-color wood stains are very common choices among our customers, and there are different factors to keep in mind before you make your decision. 

Transparent
These tend to last a little longer than natural or clear sealers because they have more color pigments, which offer more sun protection. Several different colors are available, but you should think long-term about your color choice. If you revert back to wood tones, your previous stain will have to be removed. As this stain ages it won’t peel, but it will begin to fade. 

Solid-Color
This type of stain penetrates the wood and allows some of the texture and grain to show. Caution is advised with solid-color stains used in high-traffic areas. Eventually, heavy foot traffic will cause them to wear down and peel. 

Seal & Protect  

We use only top-of-the-line products to seal and protect your deck. Different factors can make a difference on the longevity of your stain, including the amount of light exposure, the weather conditions, and the amount of foot traffic (decks). A re-stain every 1-3 years is standard in order to maintain the color and shine.
